Pinevale

Day 46: Frame is complete. Wrap has commenced. Roof tiles are completed. Bricks have kind of started. Just waiting for the scaffolding to go up…

Day 19: We’re very surprised to see our frame started so soon. Things are going along pretty smoothly ‘at the moment’.

Day 17: We have a concrete slab! Frame to start on Monday. Metricon have been awesome since starting construction. They’ve kept us regularly updated, and something has happened every day other than Melbourne Cup day.

After 72 days since contract signing, we have a site start! Without any notice or communication from Metricon, something we’re slowly getting used to, we arrived at our block on Wednesday night to find the retaining walls in place. The following day the site cut and fill was completed. We’ve cut 600 mm to a fill of 1200 mm. We’re scheduled to have the base stage completed in about 10 days.

2 week delay

At week 6 we have run into a two week delay. Due to the elevated position of our block; 6 m above our neighbours, our building permit cannot be approved until our neighbours have had 14 days to object. That 14 days ends next Wednesday. Our fingers are crossed; hopefully we can proceed without any further delays.

Week 5: No progress :(

It’s the end of week 4 and we’re yet to progress any further from contract signing. We’re waiting on our building permit which we should hopefully get in the next week or two. I’m hoping that Metricon call us this week with a start date. In the meantime, here is a mock of our kitchen that I made using the Studio M website. It’s great, you actually get to choose from the actual colours and materials.

The first thing you should do when building a house is order a rubber stamp of your signature.

Our exterior colour selection.

Our kitchen colour selection: most of the cupboards will be gloss white, with upper cupboards in the dark stain laminate, and a glossy (burnt) red glass splash-back.
